Highlights of Mongolia | 09 Nights / 10 Days

Day 01 : Arrive Ulaanbaatar
Arrival at Ulaanbaatar airport and transfer to your hotel and help you with the check-in procedure. We leave the rest of the day free for you to be on your own. You may need some time to relax and recover from the long-distance flight or possibly from jet-lag. If you feel like going for a walk and checking out places nearby, feel free to ask your guide for recommendations for good dining or places to see. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Hustai NP
After breakfast, proceed to the Hustai National Park. The park is home of last wild horses in their natural environment in the world, known as Perzevalski horse takhi. The National park has over 450 species of vascular plants, 200 of which are medicinal. After check-in and lunch at Ger camp, rest and relaxing.
There is you can visit a small Ger museum about the national park, wild horses and how they was reintroduced into the wild some years ago now for European zoos. The best time to observe these wild horses in their natural habitat is around 2-3hrs earlier than sunset, during they come down from mountains for water to stream. We will take short drive and hiking to see the horses.
There is great opportunity to take photo for these endangered horses. If you are lucky, you can see fox, deer, marmot, eagle and more wild animals. Besides of the wild animals you can find here beautiful sceneries of the Mongolian nature that features mountain and steppe.

Day 03 : Hustai NP – Elsen Tasarkhai
After breakfast, proceed to Elsen tasarkhai magnificent sand dunes – surrounded by hills with willow trees, streams and bushes, and appear as a small desert in the center of the country. This sand dune is 80km long and the widest part of the sand dune is 9-10 km. Lunch and check-in Ger camp near the sand dunes.
After some rest and relaxation hours, we will visit local camel herder family in their Ger, explore their unique nomadic lifestyle. Its chance to try drinking Hormog fermented Mongolian camel milk. The sand dunes are the perfect place for camel riding. We will discover this magnificent place on camel back.
Mongolia is home to 2/3 of the two-humped Bactrian camels in the world. It is a gentle, calm and extraordinary patient animal and can carry on without water for a month. Bet, you never rode a Bactrian camel, riding a Bactrian camel is much more comfortable than the camel in Sahara, India or anywhere else. Its two humps support you from both sides and easy pace will comfort you so much.

Day 04 : Elsen Tasarkhai – Kharkhorin
After breakfast, proceed to Kharkhorin – is a small village and one of the country’s major tourist destinations and historically known as Karakorum city. Lunch will be at Ger camp near the Elsen tasarkhai, which is surrounded by sand hills with willow trees, streams and bushes, and appear as a small desert in the center of the country.
Arrival in the village, we will visit museum of Karakorum, the symbolic ruins of ancient city. Karakoram was once the capital of the Mongolia Empire, which was the largest contiguous empire in the World history, consisted of much of Asia and parts of Eastern Europe. In 1220, Karakorum was founded by Genghis Khan in the Orkhon valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road.
The city flourished with wealth and culture, especially as artists and intellectuals were brought over from Europe to enhance the Eurasian capital. Also we will visit to the magnificent and the oldest Buddhist Monastery complex of Erdene Zuu, built in the 16th century, with 108 stupas. The monastery is still active, and there are temple museums and buildings where monks live and pray. Here you can see interesting listen to monk chanting Buddhist sutras.

Day 05 : Kharkhorin – Mongol
After breakfast, proceed to Mongol nomadic camp.Check-in the Ger camp in late afternoon. Take some personal refreshment, hiking explore around the camp.Before dinner, we will visit local nomadic family to experience firsthand how people live the country side, a lifestyle which has not changed for centuries.
Here you can help the herders with their daily tasks to get an idea of how nomadic people alongside of their livestock.

Day 06 : Mongol – Manzushir
After breakfast, proceed to “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest 40m high equestrian statue in the world. On the way visit Mt. Bogd Khan national park is one of the oldest national parks in the world, protected since 1783. Manzshir Monastery is located in the luxuriant valley of the National Park. It was established in 1733 with 20 temples and 300 monks. Destroyed in 1932, the only remaining temple has been restored and a museum at the site tells the story of the Monastery.
The surrounding area is perfect for walking through green woods, meadows and mountain clear water streams. After lunch at restaurant in the statue complex, we will explore the complex. There is a recreation area, restaurants, and souvenir shops occupy the base structure. From here, we use an elevator or walk to the head of the horse through chest and back neck of the horse, where we can have farseeing and good panorama view over the complex area.

Day 07 : Manzushir – Gun Galuut NP
After breakfast, proceed to Gun-Galuut National Park is a local protected area for conservation of global threatened species. Enjoys to see Gun-Galuut vast steppe seems to meet the sky, the imposing mountains, a home land of rare creatures, small all lakes, a paradise of birds, Kherlen, the longest river of Mongolia and Tsengiin Burd wetland, in where water and wetland birds lay their eggs.There is great chance to see world endangered Wild Sheep Argali. In the afternoon, we will little drive and hiking to see the wild sheep.
The most peculiarity of Gun-Galuut is Argali – Wild sheep, which honored as “World Hunting Highlight” so registered in the “Red List” of IUCN. There is no other place like Gun-Galuut, where Argali occurs in high density living as calm so it can be easily visible even though they can be observed in quite a several particular areas in Mongolia.

Day 08 : Gun Galuut NP – Terelj NP
After breakfast, proceed to Terelj National Park. It’s one of the most visited national parks in Mongolia. You can see the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones; some of them look quite similar to turtles.
After lunch, we will take short drive to see Turtle Rock – interesting rock formation looking like a turtle and visit Ariyabal meditation temple – surrounded by scenic mountains with massive rock formations and sits at top of the mountain. The distance between the gate and the actual temple is about 1 km and it is only accessible by walking.
To get to the top, you would cross the suspension bridge and climb up on 108 stairs, according to Buddhist prayer beads. This small hike is seen as a ritual to cleanse one’s sins. From the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking view overlooking the Terelj National Park.

Day 09 : Terelj NP – Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, proceed to the city and visit Gandan Monastery, Mongolia’s largest functioning Buddhist monastery. Listen to the horns calling lamas and monks to temple, and capture the monks’ daily rituals.
While visiting the adjoining Megjid Janraisig Temples, we will see 26-meter-high majestic gilded statue of Migjid Janraisig. After lunch we will visit Sukhbaatar square and Parliament House displayed with Great Khans memorial statue. The square lies at the heart of the city surrounded by theaters, government buildings.Continue to visit National Museum of Mongolia for to get an overview of Mongolia’s history and culture including nomadic life, traditional costumes of ethnic groups, sacred religious relics, and Stone & Bronze Age artifacts.
Next, we will visit Zanabazar Fine Art Museum. The museum displays collections of world’s and Mongolian famous artists, including many original works of Zanabazar, who was Mongolian religious leader and artist in 17th century.Afterwards, visit The Zaisan Memorial; it was built for honors fallen soldiers of Soviet Union in World War II. From here it’s available to see the best view of Ulaanbaatar and surrounding hills. After farewell dinner, transfer to the Hotel.

Day 10 : Depart Ulaanbaatar
Departure transfer to onwards destination.

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Night in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Kharkhorin
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Kharkhorin. The once 13th century capital of the Great Mongol Empire is today home to a town of Kharkhorin and a number of sites serving as legacies to Mongol Empire. Lunch on the way. After arrival in Kharkhorin visit Erdene-Zuu monastery and Kharkhorin museum as well as local monuments.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp.

Day 03 : Kharkhorin – Ugii Lake
Start driving to the monuments of prince Kul-Tegin (685-731), the oldest and most important findings of Turkish period. Reach a camp by the Ugii Lake after continued driving. In the evening, hiking around the lake and enjoy birdwatching.

Day 04 : Ugii Lake – Tsenkher
Drive to Tsenkher hot spring. Spend the day relaxing in natural spa and walking in the surrounding forest. Optional massage available.

Day 05: Tsenkher – Orkhon Waterfall
This morning, we drive to the Orkhon waterfall located in the Orkhon Valley included as in the World Heritage list by UNESCO. Relax in the peaceful valley and visit the Mongolia’s tallest waterfall Orkhon of 24 meters. The Orkhon river valley has been protected as a national park since 2006.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp near the waterfall.

Day 06 : Orkhon Waterfall – Elsen Tasarkhai
After breakfast at the camp, drive to Elsen Tasarkhai known as Mini Gobi sand dune. Arrive in a camp in the late afternoon and visit a local camel-breeder’s Ger and ride camels along the sand dunes. Visit to Ovgon temple in the free time.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp.

Day 07 : Elsen Tasarkhai – Ulaanbaatar
Breakfast at the Ger camp and drive back to Ulaanbaatar.
After arrival in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to your hotel accommodation in Ulaanbaatar.

After Breakfast transfer to the airport for onward Journey.

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Night in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast drive to Khui Doloon Khudag for the horse racing event of the Naadam Festival. Enjoy watching horse races and immersing in the atmosphere.
Afterwards drive back to the hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 03: Ulaanbaatar
Attend the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival plus a Naadam Gala Dinner and Folk Concert in the evening. The highlight of the Mongolian festival calendar, the Naadam Festival dates back several centuries and takes place each year on July 11-13. Originally a test of a nomad’s aptitude, it requires strength, stamina, accurate marksmanship and skillful horsemanship. Given the equine nature of nomadic life, much importance is placed on the horse races. Drawing herdsmen from hundreds of miles around and townsfolk alike, races are staged on the vast steppes covering distances of up to 20 miles. We highly recommend booking early for our Naadam Festival tour.

Day 04 : Ulaanbaatar – Baga Gazriin Chuluu
Drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu after breakfast at the hotel. The Baga Gazriin Chuluu is the rock formation which gives an opportunity to hiking along the rocky hills. On the way stop by underground spring that is rumored to have healing properties for the eye.

Day 05 : Baga Gazriin Chuluu – Tsagaan Suvarga

Drive further south. Arrive at the Mountain range of the Gobi GurVAN Saikhan national park. Spend the afternoon on an excursion to Yol Valley known for its ice that remains in the area until mid-June. Hiking and enjoying stunning photographic opportunities in the valley.

Day 07 : Yol Valley – Khongor Sand Dune
After breakfast, drive towards the Khongor sand dune, also known as “Singing dune”. Visit a local camel-breeding family for visit and camel riding to the Khongor sand dune. Climb towards the tallest part of the dune will reward you with an incredible view of the surrounding landscape. Enjoy Gobi sunset at the camp.

Day 08 : Khongor Sand Dune – Bayanzag
Drive to the world-famous Flaming Cliffs (Bayanzag), rich in saxaul trees of Gobi. Explore the site of the first paleontological discoveries in Mongolia by following the footsteps of Roy Chapman Andrews, (January 26, 1884 – March 11, 1960), an American explorer, adventurer and naturalist.

Day 09 : Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery
After breakfast at the camp, drive to north to the Ongi monastery ruins where just a century ago over a thousand Lamas resided. It was one of the three largest monastic centers of Mongolia and fell victim to the Stalinist purges of 1937. After lunch, explore the ruined Ongi monastery that is undergoing a slow but steady rebuilding process.

Day 10 : Ongi Monastery – Kharkhorin
After breakfast at the camp, drive towards the town of Kharkhorin located on the site of the capital of the 13th century Great Mongol Empire. The town is home to the Erdene- Zuu Monastery, which was the first and the largest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. The monastery was subject to Stalinist Purge of 1937 but parts of the monastery survived.
Tour the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century. Visit the Kharkhorin museum which presents a display of a wide range of artifacts that can be traced back to the periods of the Great Mongol Empire and even the Turkic State which ruled Mongolia in the 6th century CE.

Day 11 : Kharkhorin – Tsenkher Hot Spring
In the morning, drive to the Tsenkher hot spring located in Arkhangai province. The province had large amounts of volcanic activities in the past times which has left an exotic image in many of its areas. Spend the day enjoying a full access to a relaxing natural spa and trekking in the surrounding forest. Please do not forget to pack your swimsuit for this day. Optional massage services are available.

Day 12 : Tsenkher Hot Spring – Lake Ugii
Drive to Lake Ugii in Eastern part of Arkhangai province. Settle at a camp located on the shore of Lake Ugii. A magnificent view of the lake and water birds will be at your doorsteps. The lake is considered as Ramsar Site of International importance and is home to different types of migrating birds. Optional boating and fishing activities available.

Day 13 : Lake Ugii – Khustai National Park
After breakfast at the Ger camp, drive to Khustai national park founded in 1993 after the Dutch effort to reintroduce the Przewalski wild horses back into their natural habitat. The horses had become extinct in Mongolia in the mid-1960s and currently are the only wild horse species in the world. Upon arrival in the national park, visit a local information center to learn the history and lifestyle of the horses.
After watching a short documentary about the reintroduction of the horses to Mongolia, drive deep into the national park to see the wild horses who are also known as Takhi in Mongolia. If you have binoculars, we would recommend bringing them along.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Amarbayasgalant Monastery
In the morning, start your journey to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, or the “Monastery of Tranquil Felicity” – one of the three largest Buddhist monastic centers in Mongolia. The monastery was established in 1727 and completed in 1736 to serve as a final resting place for Zanabazar (1635– 1723), the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, or spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism – the first head of religion in modern Mongolia, equivalent to Catholic Popes.
His remains were transferred to a newly created temple in 1788. Amarbayasgalant was one of the very few monasteries to have partially escaped destruction during the Stalinist purges of 1937. Visit and explore the grounds of the monastery.

Day 03 : Amarbayasgalant Monastery – Uran Togoo
After breakfast, drive to Uran Togoo, an extinct volcano in Bulgan province. You will have a scenic drive with endless green pastures and the deep blue sky.

Day 04 : Uran Togoo – Lake Khuvsgul
In the morning, drive north to KHUVSGUL province – a home to large population of yaks and Central Asia’s second largest freshwater lake. Arrival in late afternoon, upon reaching KHUVSGUL Lake; settle in a Ger camp located by the lake shore.

Day 05 : Lake Khuvsgul
Enjoy a leisure by the lake shores of KHUVSGUL trekking, photo shooting and exploring the area. Optional activities for horse riding and boat renting will be available.

Day 06 : Lake Khuvsgul – Jargal Jiguur Hot Spring
After breakfast, start the drive to Jargal Jiguur hot spring. The spring comes out from a depth of 150m and its water is not mixed with ground water due to its high temperature. The camp transfers the hot water via pipes. Enjoy the stargazing in the hot spa in the pool.

Day 07 : Jargal Jiguur– Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake
Drive to the magnificent volcanic area of Khorgo located on the eastern shore of Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. The area is surrounded with many myths and legends dating back to the past centuries. On the way stop by the volcano and have picnic lunch. Then continue driving to the Ger camp by the lakeshore. Leisure time in the afternoon.

Day 08 : Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake – Kharkhorin
In the early morning, after breakfast drive to Kharkhorin, once the capital of the 13th century Great Mongol Empire. On the way stop by the volcano Khorgo and have picnic lunch. Visit the Kharkhorin museum housing artifacts dateable to even the Turkish period (VII century). Visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery, the first and the largest monastery in Mongolia built on the ruins of the ancient capital. Tour the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century.

Day 09 : Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery
After breakfast drive north and visit the ruins of the once great Ongi Monastery, local restored temple and have a walk in the surrounding area.

Day 10 : Ongi Monastery – Orkhon Waterfall
After relaxing in the morning we will drive to Orkhon waterfall. Waterfall was formed by unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20.000 years ago. The fall is most impressive after a heavy rain. The Orkhon waterfall is the biggest waterfall of Mongolia.

Day 11 : Orkhon Waterfall – Erdene-Zuu Monastery
After breakfast drive to Karakorum, once the capital of the 13th century Great Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery, which was the first and the largest monastery in Mongolia built on the ruins of the ancient capital. Tour the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century. Visit the Karakorum museum.

Day 12 : Erdene-Zuu Monastery – Tsenkher Hot Spring
Drive to the Tsenkher hot spring. Spend the day relaxing in a natural spa and walking in the surrounding forest. Please do not forget to pack your swimsuit for this day. Optional massage and beauty services are available. Enjoy the spa again after dinner.

Day 13 : Tsenkher Hot Spring – Khorgo Volcano
Drive to the magnificent volcanic area of Khorgiin Togoo, which is located on the eastern shore of Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. Today, you will have plenty of opportunities for hiking, please wear hiking shoes to climb up the volcanic crater.

Day 14 : Khorgo Volcano & White lake – Zuun Lake
After breakfast, start the drive to Jargal Jiguur hot spring. The spring comes out from a depth of 150m and its water is not mixed with soil water due to its high temperature. The camp transfers the hot water via pipes. Enjoy the stargazing in the hot spa in the pool.

Day 15 : Zuun Lake – Khuvsgul lake
In the morning, drive north to Khuvsgul province. Please keep your cameras handy, photo opportunities will present themselves often. Late afternoon, reach the beautiful Khuvsgul Lake and settle at the ger camp located on the shore.

Day 16 : Khuvsgul lake
Explore the breathtaking shores of Mongolia’s biggest and most beautiful freshwater lake. There is an opportunity to go horse riding. After lunch, visit a reindeer herder family and short horse riding. Learn about their unique lifestyle and culture.

Day 17 : Khuvsgul lake – Uran togoo
After breakfast, drive to Uran Togoo, an extinct volcano in Bulgan province. You will have a scenic drive with endless green pastures and the deep blue sky.

Day 18 : Uran togoo – Amarbayasgalant monastery
In the morning, start your journey to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, or the “Monastery of Tranquil Felicity” – one of the three largest Buddhist monastic centers in Mongolia. The monastery was established in 1727 and completed in 1736 to serve as a final resting place for Zanabazar (1635–1723), the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, or spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism for the Khalkha Mongolians in Mongolia. His remains were transferred to a newly created temple in 1788. Amarbayasgalant was one of the very few monasteries to have partly escaped destruction during the Stalinist purges of 1937. Visit and explore the grounds of the monastery.

Day 19 : Amarbayasgalant monastery – Selenge Province
Drive to beautiful Aglag Buteel Monastery and be amazed by the combination of natural beauty and Buddhist heritages. This monastery is located 62mi/100km away from Ulaanbaatar in Bornuur soum of Tuv province. It is on the way to the second largest city of Mongolia, Darkhan. Buddhism is a widely practiced religion in Mongolia and has been revived since the 1990s after the collapse of communism.
As people’s religious freedom return, a number of new Buddhist monasteries have been established. Aglag Buteel Monastery is one of the monasteries built by renowned Buddhist lama and artist, Purevbat, of Mongolia. The monastery was built to the south of Garid (Garuda) Uul, a stunning mountain with larch forest. Enjoy a walk around the monastery and explore its rich heritage.

Day 20 : Selenge Province – Ulaanbaatar

Mongolia Lunar New Year | 04 Nights / 05 Days

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Optional half and full day tours will be available.

Day 02 : Mongolian Secret History Complex
Pick up from your hotel. Drive to Mongolian Secret History Complex. After a light lunch, enjoy a short rest. Visit a Ger library to learn about Mongolian traditional literature and Mongolian shamanism. Visit the hut and the statue of TIV Tenger Shaman who was one of the advisers to Chinggis Khaan followed by tasting traditional Mongolian vodka distilled from milk.
Traditional art performances and Mongolian Traditional Costume Fashion Show. Play the traditional sheep knuckle bone games and take part in a friendly competition. In the evening visit a herder’s family. Guests are welcome to participate in cooking the New Year’s Eve dishes, “Buuz” and “Bansh” and will become “a member” of the family in the customs of celebrating the New Year’s Eve.

Day 03 : Mongolian Secret History Complex
Guests will be shown the customs of making the patterns of the New Year and are welcome to follow. Then they will visit a herder’s family to join the customs of the traditional Mongolian New Year’s greetings. Take photos dressed in costumes of ancient kings and queens and learn Mongolian traditional dance. Watch a documentary about the Mongolian ways of living and culture. Later in the day enjoy a short horse riding trip.

Day 02 : New Year’s Event
Morning city tour including Gandan Monastery, National Museum of Mongolia and Chinggis (Sukhbaatar) Square with the monument to Chinggis Khaan. After lunch, prepare for New Year’s Event. After participating in the event, walk around Sukhbaatar Square, stroll along with locals celebrating the New Year.
Transfer to your hotel after midnight.

Day 03 : Greeting the First Sunrise of the Year
Early morning transfer to train station for departure at 5:55am. This railway is part of the trans-Siberian railway. Breakfast on the train and celebrate on the way with champagne and hot wine.
Arrive at Khangai – one of the most scenic spots in Mongolia. First, we will make a campfire and wait for the sun to rise (at ~8:40am). The train departs for Ulaanbaatar at 9am and arrives at 11:20am. Pick up from the train station and drive to Terelj National Park which is 80km northeast of the city. After lunch, visit Turtle rock and a local family. Explore their unique lifestyle during winter time.
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and have dinner.

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Khustain Nuruu NP
Drive to Khustain Nuruu National Park. Drive deep into the National Park in search of Przewalski horses (takhi), the only species of wild horses in the world. If you have binoculars, please bring them. View a short documentary on reintroduction of the Przewalsky horses in 1993 after their extinction in mid-1950s. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Day 03 : Khustain Nuruu NP – Khuvsgul Lake
Transfer to airport for a domestic flight to Murun town. Upon arrival in Murun, visit a local market and continue drive to KHUVSGUL Lake. Visit Deer Stones on the way. Arrive at the Ger camp at lunch time and check in. (Due to the flight time, we might have lunch in Murun town restaurant). Visit a local herding family.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp.

Day 04 : Khuvsgul Lake – Khuin River
Drive to Khuin River for around eight hours. Packed lunch on the way. The standard Ger camp is located next to Khuin River rich with fish. The group can bring fishing equipment and pay for the fishing permit to go fishing (Catching / release of fish is very common).
Overnight stay in a Ger camp.

Day 05 : Khuin River – Tsagaan Nuur
Morning drive to Tsagaan Nuur soum. Here we get introduced to the Tsaatan Community Visitor Center (TCVC), a one-of-a-kind facility owned and operated by the reindeer herding community. Its services are modestly priced and tourism incomes are fairly distributed and dedicated to the sustainability of this small community as a whole. This ethnic group is called Dukha.
Overnight stay in a local Ger camp called Tsagaan Nuur Resort.
Optional kayaking and boating is available on request with your own expense.

Day 06 : Tsagaan Nuur – Taiga
After an early breakfast, drive to Khogorgo River, the drop off point at the edge of the taiga where our local horse guides with their horses will meet the group. Here, the group will start the horse riding into the taiga. The riding will take place in open and wooded terrain with lots of mud, puddles, almost entirely at a walking pace.
Luggage and camping equipments of the group will be carried by pack horses led by local herders. As you ride accompanied by the guides, you will pass from a steppe (grassland) into a taiga (dense forest). In the evening, arrive at Dukha community encampment.
Overnight stay in a tent or teepee- lookalike traditional gers next to a reindeer herding family.

Day 07 & Day 08 : Taiga
Full day to enjoy your stay in a taiga forest. There is a chance to meet with reindeer herding families and explore their unique way of life, play with children and learn how they make dairy products out of reindeer milk. You will have plenty of opportunities to interact with and familiarize yourselves with Dukha families. Overnight stay in a Tent next to the reindeer herding family.

Day 09 : Taiga
On this day the group will bid farewell to the reindeer herding families and ride back to Tsagaan Nuur village. Full day horse riding to Taiga Tour camp. Overnight stay in a Ger or cabin camp. Opportunity to enjoy a nice hot shower.

Day 10 : Taiga – Khuvsgul Lake
After early breakfast, drive to KHUVSGUL lake. Stay overnight in a Ger camp.

Day 11 : Khuvsgul Lake
Relaxing day on the shore of Lake KHUVSGUL. Optional boating and horse riding available. Stay overnight in a Ger camp.

Day 12 : Khuvsgul Lake – Ulaanbaatar

Day 04 : Hoton and Hurgan lake
Early morning drive to Hoton lake and upon arrival before afternoon trek will begin. Trekking will be over a terrain of gentle hills and small river valleys that lie along the Khoton Lake. The area is dotted with white Gers of Kazakhs who live in the area. Also, you will spot few ancient circular tombs where the perimeter circle is marked with stones with rocks piled in the center.

Day 05 : Tolbo and Tsambagarav peak

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Khustai National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Khustai national park founded in 1993 to reintroduce Mongolia’s wild horse Takhi (Przewalski horse). These wild horses which were unique to Mongolia became extinct in 1960s. In the early 1990s these beautiful creatures were reintroduced from the Western zoos and they have taken well to their freedom. Best time to see them is during their early morning or evening watering time.

Day 03 : Khustai National Park – Kharkhorin
After breakfast at the camp, drive towards the town of Kharkhorin located on the site of the capital of the 13th century Great Mongol Empire. The town is home to the Erdene Zuu monastery, which was the first and the largest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. The monastery was subject to Stalinist Purge of 1937 but parts of the monastery survived.
Tour the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century. Visit the Kharkhorin museum which presents a display of a wide range of artifacts that can be traced back to the periods of the Great Mongol Empire and even the Turkic state which ruled Mongolia in the 6th century CE.

Day 04 : Kharkhorin – Tsenkher Hot Spring
In the morning, drive to the Tsenkher hot spring located in Arkhangai province. The province had large amounts of volcanic activities in the past times which has left an exotic image in many of its areas. Spend the day enjoying a full access to a relaxing natural spa and trekking in the surrounding forest. Please do not forget to pack your swimsuit for this day. Day 05 : Tsenkher Hot Spring – Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake

Day 10 : Khojuliin Gol – Zuun Lake
Drive up to the North in order to reach KHUVSGUL Province. This large lake is the scenic highlight of KHUVSGUL province. There is excellent camping all around, or you can stay at the Ger camp, located on a hill overlooking the southern shore. This blue dollop of water is located 13km north of Shine-Ider soum and about 100km southwest of Murun town.

Day 11 : Zuun Lake – Khuvsgul Lake
In the morning, drive north into the Khuvsgul province. The province is home to Asia’s second largest freshwater lake Khuvsgul. Keep your cameras close as photo opportunities will be present. In the late afternoon, reach the beautiful Khuvsgul Lake and settle in a Ger camp located on the lakeshore.

Day 12 : Khuvsgul Lake
Explore the breathtaking shores of Mongolia’s biggest and most beautiful freshwater lake. Optional activities will be available for horse riding, photo shooting, trekking and jet boat renting.
Optional for visit a reindeer herding family.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp on the lakeshore.

Day 13 : Khuvsgul Lake – MurunMurun – Ulaanbaatar

Adventures in Altai the Mountains | 12 Nights / 13 Days
Ulaanbaatar – Terelj National Park – Khovd River – Khoton and Khurgan Lakes – Tsagaan Gol Valley – Potanin Glacier – Malchin Peak – Tsagaan Gol Valley – Ulgii town – Ulaanbaatar

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Optional half and full day tours will be available.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Terelj National Park
After breakfast, drive to Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex, 60 km East of Ulaanbaatar. The World’s tallest equestrian Statue (40m) is dedicated to Chinggis Khaan whose descendants would conquer almost half of the known World during their reign. The complex is home to number of souvenir stores and Mongolian traditional clothing section. Visit the cultural museums located at the basement of the statue complex.
Before departing, climb to the top of the Statue and gain a view of the surrounding area. The Statue symbolically face to the east towards his birthplace and statue dedicated to his mother. Then drive to Terelj National Park. Spend the day touring the area and enjoying the magnificent alpine scenery. There are great opportunities for hiking, rock climbing and horse riding. You can visit a nomad family, explore their unique lifestyle, and experience horse riding.
Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 03 : Terelj National Park – Khovd River
On this day you will take a domestic flight to Ulgii town and upon arrival you will drive to the Khovd River for camping.

Day 04 : Khovd River – Khoton & Khurgan
Drive to Khoton and Khurgan Lakes. On the way visit Kazakh families to experience their nomadic lifestyle and then set up a camp early. Meet our local guides and prepare for the trekking.

Day 05 : Khoton and Khurgan Lakes
The trek will begin on this day. Trekking will be over a terrain of gentle hills and small flat valleys that lie along the Khoton Lake. The area is dotted with white Ger of Kazakhs who live in the area. Also, you will spot few ancient circular tombs where the perimeter circle is marked with stones with rocks piled in the center.

Day 06 : Khoton & Khurgan – Tsagaan Gol Valley
On this day drive to Tsagaan Gol Valley with lunch on the way. Arrive at Tsagaan Gol Valley in the evening. Camp next to a Tuvan family and visit the family and experience their lifestyle.
Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 07 : Tsagaan Gol Valley
The hike on this day is around 18 km through Shiveet Khairkhan mountain which is famous for its petroglyphs. Camping on the banks of Tsagaan Gol.

Day 08 : Tsagaan Gol Valley – Potanin Glacier
On this day hike will be 18 km. The group will reach Potanin Glacier and camp there. The glacier stretches for 17km. View of the five highest peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains can be viewed from here. Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 09 : Potanin Glacier – Malchin Peak
On this day the group will climb Malchin Peak which is one of the five highest peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd. The peak is 4,049 meters above sea level.

Day 10 : Malchin Peak – Tsagaan Gol Valley
This is the last day of trekking and we will make our way back to Tsagaan Gol Valley to meet our local drivers. We will have a farewell dinner with our local camel and horse guides.

Day 11 : Tsagaan Gol Valley – Ulgii town
The group will drive back to Ulgii town. Checkin to a local hotel upon arrival in town. If time permits, we will visit local bazaar and walk around the town. Dinner in a Muslim restaurant.

Day 12 : Ulgii town – Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast the group will drive to airport for a domestic flight back to Ulaanbaatar city. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check in.

Day 13 : Departure Ulaanbaatar
After Breakfast transfer to the airport for onward Journey.

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Khongor Sand Dune
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Dalanzadgad town to reach a desertic area. Upon arrival start driving through Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park to reach Khongor Sand dune. Arrive in the Ger camp and prepare for the next days of camel trekking.

Day 03, Day 04, Day 05 & Day 06 : Camel trekking
The trekking will continue along the Singing sand dune and onward to the foothill of the highest peak of Khongor sand dune; this place is the best place to view the sunset in the evening and hiking up to 300m high sand dune is available after the end of the camel trek.

Day 07 : Khongor Sand Dune – Bayanzag
The world-famous Flaming Cliffs (Bayanzag), rich in saxaul trees of Gobi Desert. Explore the sites of the first paleontological discoveries in Mongolia by following the footsteps of Roy Chapman Andrews (January 26, 1884 – March 11, 1960), an American explorer, adventurer and naturalist. Visit a nomadic camel breeding family and experience the hospitality of Mongolian nomads.

Day 08 : Bayanzag – Ulaanbaatar
Early morning drive to local airport to catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar city and transfer to your hotel.

Day 01 : Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Night in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 02 : Ulaanbaatar – Kharkhorin
After breakfast, we will drive to the ancient capital city Kharkhorin. Upon arrival in Kharkhorin, check-in to the Ger camp and enjoy the tour around Erdene-Zuu monastery and Kharkhorin museum in the afternoon. Spend the night in a Ger camp.

Day 03 : Kharkhorin – Orkhon waterfallOrkhon waterfall – Khyatruun
After a relaxing morning at the camp, we will drive to the Orkhon waterfall. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20,000 years ago. The fall is most impressive after a heavy rain. The Orkhon waterfall is the biggest waterfall of Mongolia. Lunch at the Nomadic family and start riding a horse to the bottom of the mountain where Khyatruun hot spring is located.

Day 04 : Khyatruun hot spring – Lake Khuis
After a relaxing morning at the camping spot, we will continue riding a horse to the higher part of the mountain to reach Khyatruun hot spring. Upon arrival have lunch next to the hot spring and enjoy the beauty of wild nature. Continue riding to lake Khuis.

Day 05 : Lake Khuis – Lake Shireet – Lake Khuis
We’ll start our trekking early in the morning after a sumptuous breakfast. Today we will ride about 18 km. First, we’ll riding through a densely forested area where many wild berries grow and reach lake Shireet. This part of the ride is pretty strenuous. We’ll follow a horse path through the forest. After a picnic-lunch between the lakes, we continue our riding back to lake Khuis (Navel) after crossing several streams.
Overnight stay in a Nomadic family near lake Khuis.

Day 06 : Khuis Lake – Boorog valley
In the morning we leave the beautiful forestry slope to travel north to the Boorog valley. After a picnic lunch we will continue riding to the north and go over the Bodon pass.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp in Boorog valley.

Day 07 : Boorog valley – Orkhon waterfallOrkhon waterfall – Tuvkhun monastery
After early morning breakfast, continue riding to Orkhon waterfall. Upon arrival meet drivers and start driving to Tuvkhun monastery. Check-in to the Ger camp and have lunch. In the afternoon, ride a horse to the mountain called Shiveet Ulaan where the ancient Tuvkhun Monastery is located. Walking takes approximately one hour in one way.

Day 08 : Tuvkhun monastery – Elsen tasarkhai
After breakfast, drive to Elsen Tasarkhai, also known as Mini Gobi sand dunes due to its resemblance to Gobi Desert. Lunch at the camp next to the sand dune and visit Ovgon temple the afternoon. Visit a local family and experience short camel ride along the sand dunes.
Overnight stay in a Ger camp.

Day 09 : Elsen tasarkhai sand dune – Khustai NPKhustai National Park – Ulaanbaatar
Enjoy breakfast in the morning and start driving to Khustai national park. After having lunch at the camp in the park, we will drive deep into the national reserve to see re-introduced wild horses known as Przewalski Egus. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Ulaanbaatar and then to your hotel. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 10 : Departure Ulaanbaatar
After Breakfast transfer to the airport for onward Journey.
