DAY 01: Arrive Sofia
Arrivals in Sofia meet assist and accommodation in a hotel in the city center.Visit to the “Alexander Nevski” Cathedral. This is a memorial church, the most splendid of many notable buildings from around the turn of 20th century. It is a golden-domed five-aisle cathedral that can accommodate 5 000 people. More than 30 years craftsmen and artists from six countries have worked on the huge chandeliers, candelabra, the mural paintings and the icons, as well as on the interior made out of marble, onyx, alabaster, gold, copper and bronze. Downstairs is the crypt with the largest collection of icons and religious artifacts on the Balkan Peninsula. Attending the evening service if possible. Overnight in Sofia.

DAY 02: Sofia
After breakfast sightseeing in Sofia – a walk in the city center where is the finely preserved 4-century rotunda of St. George, the remains of the Roman fortress wall, the church of St. Petka Samarjiiska, St. Nedelja Church and St. Sofia Church – 4th to 6th century church that gave the name of the city. In the city center are also to be found the Presidency, the National Assembly building, the building of the Council of Ministers, etc. Seeing the Mosque, the National Library and the University of Sofia.
Visit to the National History Museum. It houses a wealth of rare objects from the Paleolithic age to the 14 century AD, some of the world’s oldest known gold artifacts and many objects giving detailed illustration of the centuries of the Turkish Yoke and the National Liberation Movement. Visit to Boyana Church. The church is dated 12th century and contains frescoes from 1259 which are recognized as among the best-preserved and most interesting examples of Eastern European medieval art. Some of the 90 scenes are painted from life rather than stylized. The frescoes are considered the first manifestation of Renaissance art and the church is included in UNESCO’s list of cultural and historic sites. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 03: Sofia – Plovdiv
Breakfast. Proceed for the town of Plovdiv 150 km. Visit to the Old Town – one of the most beautiful complexes of late 19 century bourgeois domestic buildings in the Balkans. Many houses are turned into museums. In this architectural reservation are to be found the ancient Roman Theater dating from the 2nd century, the ethnographic museum, the Thracian and Roman fortress walls, fine examples of churches, cultural monuments and a harmonious blend of Thracian, Roman, Slav, medieval and revival remains. A walking tour in the center where is the Djumaja Mosque, the horseshoe shaped Hellenistic stadium, the Roman forum and others. Gala dinner in a stylish restaurant, with musical program and an orchestra the restaurant will be reserved only for the group. Overnight in Plovdiv.

DAY 04: Plovdiv
Breakfast. Proceed to Bachkovo Monastery 70 km in both directions. This is the oldest one in Bulgaria and one of the finest of the Bulgarian monasteries. It was founded in late 11 century and represents the intermingling of the Old Georgian, Greek and Bulgarian traditions. It combines antique and modern buildings in a harmonious and inspiring whole.
In the afternoon visit to a wine cellar 30 km in both directions. The wine cellar is a complex combining modern technologies of wine production with an impressive National Revival style architecture. The tourists will walk about the cellar and listen to a lecture about the origin of the grape varieties, myths and legends, and specific technologies of wine production and preservation. They will taste high quality red wines of the “Cabernet Sauvignon”, “Merlot” and “Mavrud” varieties, in authentic atmosphere and with suitable appetizers. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 05: Plovdiv – Sofia – Depart Sofia
Departure transfer to onward destination.

After breakfast Proceed for Varna approximately 220 km. On the way the tourists will see the ancient Bulgarian capitals Pliska and Preslav, the Rider of Madara – a 23 meter-high stone monument enlisted in the UNESCO’s list of historic monuments. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 05: Varna – Nessebar
After breakfast Sightseeing in Varna – the biggest city on the Black Sea coast – the History Museum, the Archeological Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the Cathedral, the Dolphinarium, etc.Visit to Aladja Monastery approximately 30 km – a 12-century monastery built in the rocks with many monk cells and beautiful mural paintings. DAY 06: Nessebar – Plovdiv

DAY 03: Sofia – Plovdiv
After breakfast, transfer to Plovdiv, which is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is situated at about two hours drive from Sofia near the beautiful Rhodope Mountains. Plovdiv was selected to be the Europe’s cultural capital in 2019. The town in its present appearance was built around seven hills – the hills of Plovdiv. For a true experience of Bulgaria it is worth touring the sights of tradition and natural beauty in Plovdiv – a town with ancient past, an open-air museum with fascinating architecture. Its Old town preserves examples of Bulgarian Renaissance architecture along with the Roman Antique theatre and the Roman stadium. You will be able to take a walk along the small cobbled streets you will visit the Ethnographic museum where you will see an exhibition representing traditional culture of Thrace, The Rodhopes and the Central Balkan mountains during the 18th-19th centuries in Bulgaria. It was added to the UNESCO heritage list more than 20 years ago for its many churches, old houses and wealth of history. City tour at the old town. In the afternoon continue to Varna – the Bulgarian Sea capital. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 05: Varna
After breakfast, proceed to half day sightseeing tour of Varna. Bulgaria’s Sea Capital is full of history, sights and legends. You will visit the Sea Garden – an amazing place for walking along the sea. In the city center you will see the symbol of Varna – Cathedral “The assumption of Holy Mother”. If you want to see the oldest worked golden artefacts you may want to visit Varna’s Archaeological museum. Also the Roman Thermae, which are the most valuable monument of culture in Varna, situated in the central part of the city where they were constructed in the late 2nd century AD. DAY 06: Varna
After breakfast, departure to Balchik. These are the second largest gardens in Europe, once were part of the summer palace of the Romanian queen Maria. Visiting museums, going to Pobiti Kamani – a very interesting semi-dessert area covered with yellow sands and many stone figures that are still unknown whether they are remnants of a vanished town, or of a giant wall. Some of these rocks are 6-7 meters high; others are similar to pots or flowers. The area is 4 km2. Very close is the cave Tamnata Dupka The Dark Hole where traces of prehistoric people are found. DAY 04: Varna – Veliko Tarnovo
After breakfast, Proceed for the town of Veliko Tarnovo. On the way to the town the tourists will see the old Bulgarian capitals Pliska and Preslav, the Rider of Madara – a 23m-high stone monument enlisted in the UNESCO list of historical monuments. A visit to a wine cellar where the popular wine “Pelin” is produced. A visit to the monastery “St. Pantaleimon” where the Bulgarian king Boris had spent some time. A visit to Ljaskovo nunnery. DAY 05: Veliko Tarnovo
After breakfast sightseeing in Veliko Tarnovo, Arbanasy and the monastery of Kelifarevo. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

DAY 06: Veliko Tarnovo – Nessebar
After breakfast, Proceed for the town of Nessebar. On the way visiting Drjanovo Monastery, the village of Bojentzi, the ethnographic complex Etara, the Thracian tomb near Kazanlak. Overnight in Nessebar or Vlas.

DAY 07: Nessebar
After breakfast visiting the towns of Nessebar and Sozopol. Nessebar is a small town situated on a peninsula. Its population is 7000 people and during the summer each house turns into a small hotel. The legends tell that once there were 41 churches in Nessebar. Nowadays the tourists may see the following churches: the Old Metropolis, the Basilica on the see coast, “St. Todor”, “St.Parasceva”, etc. The other pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast is Sozopol. The town was established in 609. Its first name was Apolonia. Overnight in Nessebar or Vlas.
